Hello! My students call me Moselle Teacher (sometimes Mozzarella Teacher…) and I’m an ESL English teacher in Korea.

In an effort to find extra practice materials for students to use at home, I’ve noticed a large gap in the market, specifically for 1st grade ESL materials. While there are many (many!) English textbooks out there, it’s very difficult to figure out which one exactly will be useful in each student’s case. Oftentimes, American 1st grade textbooks are way too easy, and Korean textbooks, well… they use too much Korean for my taste. Also, I know the kids aren’t going to touch those books, and they’ll end up dusty on the shelf!!

This blog is designed to cater to my own students, specifically ESL 1st grade learners with a background in English through kindergarten or other means, so they already have a good foundation of the English basics. That’s not to say that a 2nd grader, or even a quick kindergartener, might not get some use out of them!

Each mini lesson is meant to be doable within an hour or so, with the exception of the difficult level ones, which I’ll make a note of in the post. I create simple, straightforward worksheets and materials with instructions that are easy for kids to follow without much assistance. They’re also designed with the parent in mind; I try my best to include answer keys for at-home checking whenever possible, as well as tips and How-Tos translated to Korean (I am using a translator for most of them, so forgive me if they sound a bit awkward!).

Note: None of the provided materials are associated with any company or corporation. They are not made professionally, just by myself as a personal endeavor. Please use them freely! I’m just using the skills that I have gained through my experience teaching. Thus, these materials will not be perfect, but I use my personal free time to make them, and will gladly accept any constructive feedback.
